About the Role
• Develop and manage hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes for drivers, dispatchers, and corporate staff
• Oversee background checks, drug screenings, motor vehicle reports (MVR), and credential verification
• Maintain employee and contractor records in accordance with privacy and data protection standards
• Manage payroll coordination, benefits administration, and workforce documentation
• Handle employee relations, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
• Build employee handbook, HR policies, and internal procedures
• Ensure full compliance with HIPAA regulations, DOT requirements, OSHA standards, and labor laws
• Maintain driver qualification files, DOT medical cards, HazMat documentation, and certification records
• Track and manage certifications including HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogen, TWIC, TSA PreCheck, and HazMat
• Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews
• Prepare documentation for insurance providers, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Develop and implement safety programs and compliance training
• Monitor contractor classification (1099 vs W-2) to reduce legal risk
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• 3+ years of experience in HR management, compliance, or operations (logistics, healthcare, or transportation preferred)
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, contractor classifications (1099 vs W-2), and HR best practices
• Experience managing onboarding, background checks, drug testing, and employee records
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and handling sensitive employee and medical-related documentation
• Understanding of DOT regulations, driver qualification files, and transportation compliance requirements
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build policies, procedures, and training programs from the ground up
• Proficiency with HR software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
• Experience in medical courier, healthcare logistics, or transportation industries
• Knowledge of OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen standards, and workplace safety regulations
• Experience managing multi-state or multi-location teams
• Familiarity with TWIC, TSA PreCheck, and driver credential tracking systems
• Experience supporting rapid company growth or startup environments
