About the Role
DFW MedRoute Logistics is seeking a Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to serve as the operational control center of our medical courier services. This role is responsible for assigning routes, monitoring deliveries in real time, coordinating STAT and scheduled requests, and supporting drivers to ensure consistent, compliant, and on-time service.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining client trust, delivery accuracy, and operational efficiency across the DFW Metroplex.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch & Route Management
• Assign daily routes to drivers based on volume, location, priority, and driver availability
• Optimize routes to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and control costs
• Coordinate STAT, same-day, and emergency deliveries
• Adjust routes in real time due to traffic, weather, vehicle issues, or client needs
Real-Time Operations
• Monitor active deliveries using GPS and dispatch software
• Track delivery completion times and proof-of-delivery documentation
• Identify and resolve delivery issues before they impact clients
• Escalate critical incidents to operations leadership
Driver Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers during shifts
• Provide instructions, address questions, and troubleshoot issues in real time
• Support new driver onboarding and route training
• Ensure drivers follow company safety, compliance, and professionalism standards
Client Communication
• Communicate with hospitals, labs, clinics, and pharmacies regarding delivery status
• Handle service inquiries, delays, and urgent requests professionally
• Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation
Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure chain-of-custody procedures are followed
• Support HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards
• Maintain dispatch logs, incident reports, and route records
Process Improvement
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements
• Support technology upgrades and system implementations
• Assist with operational reporting and performance tracking
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or related field preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, transportation, or operations
• Strong understanding of route planning, GPS tracking, and delivery workflows
• Ability to manage multiple drivers and deliveries simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills (phone, text, and email)
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with dispatch software, routing platforms, and Google Workspace / Microsoft Office
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
• Professional demeanor and customer service mindset
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in medical courier, healthcare logistics, or time-sensitive delivery environments
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and chain-of-custody procedures
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and driver qualification standards
• Experience handling STAT or emergency delivery coordination
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
